The Pearson Teaching Awards website has gone live...
The Pearson Teaching Awards website, created by Prospect for The Teaching Awards Trust, has gone live and has met with very enthusiastic reviews. The site enables students, parents, teachers and heads to shine a spotlight on the teachers who really make a positive difference to their students’ lives. Nominators can either write a short thank directly onto the site or upload a video.
Besides gathering candidates for the Teaching Awards annual ceremony (being held in London on 30 October, 2011), the site is a treasure trove of touching stories. Videos posted by students are especially affecting and vividly demonstrate the well-deserved affection students have for their teachers. In addition, every teacher nominated receives a personal note of thanks from the organisation.
The site was created in a quick turnaround on a very tight budget. Prospect took on the identity developed by Liquid Agency and concentrated on creating a simple interface with a clear design, and on providing easy access to stories. The design was very well received by The Teaching Awards Trust, with Will Wyatt CBE, Chairman of the Trust commenting, “I like the website very much, especially the “Know an Amazing Teacher” area and the videos. The “Support Us” section strikes the right note. The whole has a bright, modern look. Excellent!”
The kudos don’t end there, however. The numbers tell a significant story as well. In the 2 weeks after launch, the site garnered 21,000 views and 1,600 videos had been uploaded. We look to see those numbers climbing steadily through this year’s nominating period. And expect to see even more nominations in 2012.
