Prospect have produced the first of three reports exploring the future of creating, sharing and applying knowledge in the creative industiries
The UK is a world leader in creating knowledge and ideas. The Creative Industries Knowledge Transfer Network (CIKTN) invited Prospect to lead a strategic project exploring the future of creating, sharing and applying knowledge. We are proud to announce that the first of the three reports is now available to download!
Historically, the Creative Industries have not engaged with 'knowledge transfer' (KT) on the same scale as industries such as sciences and engineering, for example. Coupled with a harsh ecomnomic climate, it is vital that the UK seeks to find ways to help make great ideas work harder.
Prospect have been using a wide range of methodologies, including workshops, expert interviews, collaborative research tools and online surveys to engage various stakeholders that are or could be involved in sharing advice, knowledge, expertise and support to help them evolve, innovate and become ‘futureproof’.
Unlocking Knowledge Transfer: Baselines is a short yet rigorous collection of insights taken from a broad consultation and collaboration, designed to open up the discussion on how the creative industries can grow through sharing knowledge.
The first report establishes a baseline of understanding of the barriers and issues from those who have or may be involved in knowledge sharing, structured and organised using a thematic framework.
Each report is being used to ignite debate and discussion, released amongst other resources, spaces for thought and debate being hosted on the CIKTN Project Space.
The second phase seeks to contextualise these drivers and barriers of KT in future scenarios which include economic, social, cultural and environmental depth. The two main workshops in London and Edinburgh were a great success, and we had rich feedback from the participants about how they would deal with the threats and opportunities the future may hold. The results are being develped into the second report: 'Scenarios', which will be available in the coming weeks!
The final outcome will present a vision for knowledge transfer over the next 5-10 years, with a number of recommendations for initiatives, projects and campaigns that can help propel the UK to the cutting edge of innovation.
The final workshop will take place at the Saïd Business School in Oxford on February 12th. Click here to email your details to CI KTN and apply for a place!
