We are very sad to announce that Silverjet ceased operations this morning.

CEO Lawrence Hunt posted a message on Silverjet's website saying that he is still "...working actively with new investors who are prepared to inject new funds so we can recommence operations. If we are able to achieve this, we will make an announcement as soon as possible and we hope to be able to bring you our very 'sivilised' flying experience again."

The news hit us especially hard - we have been working with Lawrence and his team since Silverjet was just a glimmer in the sky. Just two weeks ago, we won the Best Airline Website 2008 award from Travelmole, beating out BA, Virgin and other contenders. That victory now tastes rather bittersweet. We really hope that Lawrence and his team manage to pull the Silverjet dream from the ashes and fly again.
